SPORTS DAY : 21 February 2020

[School Serpong - Auto Notification]

Dear Grades 7-11 Parents,


Please be advised that the School will be having a Sports Day on 21 February 2020.  In preparation for this big event, the students will be grouped using the house system.  The purpose of the House system is to instil a sense of camaraderie and citizenship among the student body and the school community.  Students learn to be responsible citizens by:



  *   reading, understanding, and respecting the tenets set forth in the Cambridge Learner Attributes, Key Personal Attributes, and 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens
  *   committing to participate responsibly in School activities
  *   maintaining high standards throughout the year

Students will be assigned to one of the four houses.  A strong School spirit is also instilled among the students as they strive to represent their respective Houses in healthy competition of sports, cultural and social performances.



The use of element names as the divisions of the School Houses was chosen for several reasons. First, elements are the basic building blocks of life and therefore its essence. This reinforces the idea of using the Cambridge Learner Attributes, Key Personal Attributes and 7 Habits as the basic building blocks of character and therefore is essential for the development of character in our students at BINUS SCHOOL Serpong.



Furthermore, the use of elements reminds students to be stewards of the earth. In this modern era, with concerns such as pollution, erosion, global warming, etc., we wish to instil within the students a desire to preserve and to protect the environment.



The Houses are as follows:

House of Water - Colour: Blue - Water is often associated with nurturing, compassion and understanding. Water is also associated with being a fundamental necessity of life, therefore because of its life-giving traits, it too reflects compassion and integrity.



House of Air - Colour: Purple - Air is often associated with thought and the ability to perform abstract reasoning. It is often associated with analysis, synthesis and probing.  It is the element of intelligence, creativity and beginnings.



House of Fire - Colour: Orange - Fire is often associated with creativity, courage, and its light-giving qualities which cause it to be inspirational to others. It also represents the energetic, forceful, moving of things in the world.
House of Earth - Colour: Green - Earth is often associated with being practical, grounded and dependable. Also, it is our duty to keep the earth sustainable. We also have the responsibility to preserve and protect the environment, so we must be responsible in our choices and decisions to protect the earth and each other. It is the element of stability, being grounded, fertility, potential, and stillness.

Please note that t-shirts will be printed and a fee of Rp 100,000.00 per student will be collected next week December 2-5, 2019.  The payment will be collected by their class advisors.
