The Government of Indonesia has provided DT vaccinations for children (Indonesians and expatriates) in response to the diphtheria outbreak that has been going on in some areas of Indonesia. BINUS SCHOOL Serpong is scheduled to have the DT (Diphtheria Tetanus) vaccine on Friday, 29 November 2019.

Here is some information regarding the vaccine.

1.   What are diphtheria and tetanus?
Diphtheria and tetanus are very serious diseases. Both diphtheria and tetanus are infections caused by bacteria.
Diphtheria can cause a thick coating to form in the back of the throat. It can lead to breathing problems, heart failure, paralysis, and death. It spreads from person to person through secretions from coughing or sneezing.
Tetanus causing bacteria enter the body through cuts, scratches, or wounds. Tetanus (Lockjaw) causes painful muscle tightening and stiffness, usually all over the body. It can lead to tightening of muscles in the head and neck so you can't open your mouth, swallow, or sometimes even breathe. Tetanus kills about 1 out of every 10 people who are infected even after receiving the best medical care.

2.   What is DT vaccine?

DT is a diphtheria-tetanus vaccine. This vaccine can protect children from diphtheria and tetanus.

3.      Who gets the DT vaccine?
DT vaccine is given to children younger than 7 years old.

4.      Who should not get the DT vaccine?
If a child has had severe allergic reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis) to a vaccine before, he/she should not get immunized.
When a child had a fever within 3 days prior to DT implementation or on the day of DT implementation should wait until the fever subsides.

Perihal: Vaksinasi DT

Pemerintah Indonesia telah menyediakan vaksinasi DT untuk anak-anak (WNI dan WNA) sebagai respon terhadap wabah penyakit difteri yang sedang terjadi akhir-akhir ini di beberapa wilayah di Indonesia. BINUS SCHOOL Serpong dijadwalkan untuk mendapatkan vaksinasi DT (Difteri Tetanus) pada hari Jumat, 29 November 2019.

Berikut ini beberapa informasi mengenai vaksin DT.

1.   Apakah itu difteri dan tetanus?
Difteri dan tetanus adalah dua penyakit yang sangat serius. Keduanya merupakan penyakit infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri.
Difteri ditandai dengan terbentuknya selaput putih keabu-abuan di tenggorokan, yang menyebabkan kesukaran bernapas, gagal jantung, sampai dengan kematian. Ditularkan melalui percikan ludah.
Tetanus (Lockjaw) disebabkan oleh bakteri yang masuk ke tubuh melalui luka irisan, tergores atau luka terbuka lainnya. Penyakit ini ditandai dengan kekakuan otot muka dan seluruh otot badan dengan rasa nyeri. Otot mulut dapat kaku sehingga tidak dapat rnembuka mulut dan tidak dapat menelan sehingga dapat menyebabkan kematian.  Angka kematian 1 diantara 10 orang pasien.

2.   Apakah itu vaksin DT?

Vaksin DT adalah imunisasi untuk melawan penyakit difteri dan tetanus yang disebabkan oleh bakteri. Vaksin ini berisi toksoid bakteri yang telah dimodifikasi untuk memicu respon sistem kekebalan tubuh dan membentuk anti-toksin dan kekebalan terhadap kedua penyakit tersebut.

3.   Siapakah yang harus mendapatkan vaksin DT?
Vaksin DT diberikan kepada anak-anak yang berusia di bawah 7 tahun.

4.   Kepada siapakah vaksin DT tidak diberikan?
Jika anak pernah mengalami reaksi alergi berat (anafilaksis) terhadap vaksin sebelumnya, maka anak tersebut tidak boleh diberi imunisasi ini.
Jika anak mengalami demam dalam jangka waktu tiga hari sebelum pemberian vaksin atau pada hari pemberian vaksin, maka pemberian vaksin harus ditunda hingga kesehatan anak pulih.

Formulir pendaftaran harus sudah dilengkapi paling lambat hari Senin, 25 November 2019.
